1. First stop is the Uyuni Train Cemetery, a bizarre collection of locomotives and carriages left to the elements in Southern Bolivia.
|

2. You can't help but have fun in the Salt Plains. These mounds of salt are heaped up to dry before being processed for sale.
|

4. Our first lunch on the journey - anybody remember the pepper?

5. Sometimes looking after a group can be a real handful.

6. however there is always a lot of high jinx to be had.

7. An impromptu yoga session broke out.

9. This giant cactus on Fish Island is hundrerds of years old.

12. This region is all about huge geological structures, blue skies and vast expanses.

13. Judy pops out of a cave formerly inhabited by Lepi Lepis, a pre-Inca civilization. |
14. We were fortunate enough to stay in a salt hotel, where even the furniture was made from salt bricks.

15. Val & Jean wonder when the next train will pass through.

16. Llamas are such curious creatures and incredibly photogenic. |

17. On the shores of Laguna Colorada (Red lagoon), the colours came to life.
|

18. The local wildlife (llamas and flamingos) popped their heads up as we drove past.
|

19. Bolivia is a photographer's paradise and here we see Val and Dianne on the shores of Laguna Verde looking for the best shot.
|

20. This Andean fox was hanging out at the Bolivia/Chile border.
|

21. Near San Pedro de Atacama Chile with more mind blowing geological formations.
|

22. Gavin and Charles look nonchalant with moon valley (San Pedro) in the background.

23. Our first evening in Chile and we were settling in for the show.

24. This amazing sunset lasted for about half an hour and was simply stunning.
|

25. More lagoons and snow capped mountains, this time in Chile.
|

26. Gavin, Charles, Jan and Jean enjoyed the brightly coloured flamingos.
|

27. Charles walks through the salt flats, quite different from what we had seen in Bolivia.
|

28. The flamingos were unperturbed by our presence and carried on eating (micro shrimp).
|

29. We were fortunate to see this area with fresh snow.
|

30. San Pedro de Atacama has a wild west feel to it.
