1. Our first day in Brazil we visited an artist's studio inside one Rio's most famous favelas.

4. Roll over 'Dancing with the stars', our Brazil group tried a few steps at the sambadrome, site of Rio's world famous carnaval.

5. The beauty of travel is the colourful personalities you meet. Selaron is an artist of Chilean origin, now based in Rio and a whizz with tiles.

6. Vi celebrated her birthday in Rio and a wonderful time was had by all.

18. Elizabeth won the prize for the biggest fish and we had some lovely piranha soup for dinhner. |

24. The local market was a real eye opener. Beans are a Brazilian staple and there were many different types. |

25. Anybody want beef for dinner? The cuisine in Brazil is almost always made with fresh ingredients so it makes for very tasty cooking. |

26. This Baihana displayed not only the typical clothing of the locals but also their friendly demeanour. |

27. Olive was able to visit the statue of her famous relative affectionately known as the 'English Doctor' to the locals. He is remembered for his many good deeds particularly to the less affluent members of Salvador. |

28. These kids were getting ready for an impromptu concert in Salvador - their affable smiles are so typical of the people from the Northeastern region of Brazil. |

33. Feb 2 was a special day to be in Salvador as we joined in the celebration of Yemanja, the African goddess of the Sea. Many people came to leave flowers, clothing, cakes and other offerings. |

34. The Orixas in this lake are a noteable Salvador landmark. |

35. Ian, Olive and Judy Mac enjoy a stroll along one of Florianopolis 42 beaches. This island in Santa Catarina is well know for beachcombers and surfers alike. |

39. We were here in Februrary so no Oktoberfest for us, however the Summerfest was on, so much sausage was available and many steins were on tap. |

41. Brent enjoys the immaculately kept Botanical Gardens in Curitiba. |

42. Betsy, Ian, Olive and Judy H enjoy the sunshine as we head off for two days R and R on Ilha do Mel. Having just raided the local supermarket we were all stocked up and set for some good times. |

43. Ilha do Mel provided the prefect spot to do some walks, veg out on the beach, have a massage, eat some tastey seafood and just chill out! |
